小泉 颯作
Coach/Manager
Born: September 1993
Hometown: Yamaguchi Prefecture
He started sailing at the age of 9 at the Hikari Sailing Club Junior, and as a junior high school student,
he represented Japan in international competitions. In high school, he overcame intense pressure to win the
Yamaguchi National Sports Festival held in his hometown. At Waseda University, he won the individual
intercollegiate championship and led his team to consecutive victories in the team event as captain.
After graduating, he continued to compete at the highest level, but after narrowly missing out on the
TOKYO2020 Olympic team, he supported Japan’s national team as a training partner for the men’s team
Okada/Hokazono and the women’s team Yoshida/Yoshioka, who were selected for the Olympics.
He has achieved numerous top finishes in the All Japan 470 Championships and the National Sports Festival,
but notably, as a long-time member of the Yamaguchi National Sports Festival team, he not only secured
personal podiums but also contributed to multiple Emperor’s Cup (overall championship) victories. As a staff
member for the Waseda University Yacht Club, he contributed to seven overall All Japan Intercollegiate
Championships, including a five-year consecutive winning streak. He plays a vital role in the team’s
mentality and management.
Having been a rival of Isozaki from his student days through TOKYO2020, Isozaki was so impressed by his
dedication and commitment as an athlete and partner that he invited him to join as coach for the PARIS2024
campaign.
As a coach who stands close to the athletes, he supports the team in all aspects—mental, technical, and
physical. Deeply trusted by the athletes, he serves as the emotional anchor of a team that knows the pain of
past defeat and will fight alongside them to lead them to gold.
